Fireplace transformation
Restoring an old chimney and transforming it into a kitchen centrepiece

We had a request recently from a client who was in the process of renovating an old home and wanted to ask about the possibility of transforming their brick fireplace.
The fireplace had been previously rendered and the client had already removed some of the render, but doing so had left the surface of the bricks in a rough condition.
As it was going to form part of the new kitchen cabinets, Our Trade removed the rest of the render and white set, re-mortar pointed all the brickwork using lime mortar to match existing and replaced some bricks including where required to replace the existing concrete lintel.
Once our Trade carried out this work, a clear glass splash back was applied to highlight the restored brickwork behind.
The client is very happy with the results and the blend of new and old is remarkable.
